Agatha and Duda remain at the top of Brazilian volleyball

The gold medal match on the fifth stop of the 2020-21 Brazilian beach volleyball circuit ended in a win for Agatha Bednarczuk and Duda Lisboa. They beat fellow top duo Ana Patricia Ramos and Rebecca Cavalcanti.

With both duos winning all two events each from the previous four, the top spot in the circuit was in play. However, it was Agatha and Duda who came away with the 2-0 win against their rivals. This win caps off a short yet great year for the duo.

Since play was restarted, the duo had six events and they made all six finals. They also had a win overseas as they won the 2020 King of the Court event in the Netherlands back in September.

Even if people might say that this was a bad year for the volleyball scene with limited events, you cannot say that about Agatha and Duda who did well.

After the finals finished, Agatha had a lot to say about their 2020. She said, ‘It was a challenging year for all of us. When we were allowed to play, we managed to get back to working hard but also enjoying the moment. The tournaments were moved and we had to fix our tactics so we could be at our peaks now’.

Ending the season with another gold medal is great because it secured them the top spot of the circuit. They can now take a short break before they resume play in 2021. This rest will be great for the duo because they will be ready for the new year.

On the other side, Duda was voted the best player of the final. The young star talked about how their training helped them to stay on a winning path. The goal was always to improve from each event. Finishing a year with their goals accomplished is a good reward for their hard work.

It will be interesting to see how the top duo will perform in 2021 as they have the momentum to carry on with their solid performances.
